Rayoptic is pleased to introduce our newly developed Fiber NID with Built-in Reel, a compact outdoor fiber network interface device designed for FTTH residential drop cable installation.
After completing mold development and production validation, this Fiber NID with Built-in Reel is now ready for bulk supply. It is designed to help installers manage drop cable more efficiently, reduce field splicing work, and provide a clean fiber access point at the subscriber premises.

What Is a Fiber NID with Built-in Reel?
A Fiber NID, also known as a fiber network interface device or fiber demarcation box, is typically installed on the outside wall of a home, apartment, villa, or small building. It provides a protected connection point between the outdoor fiber drop cable network and the subscriber-side fiber connection.
The key feature of this new design is the built-in reel structure inside the enclosure. The drop cable is pre-wound on the internal reel, factory-terminated with SC/APC connectors on both ends, and then assembled into the Fiber NID enclosure.
This design keeps the drop cable neatly stored inside the box and helps simplify on-site installation.

Designed to Reduce Field Splicing
In many FTTH installations, field splicing can increase labor time, installation complexity, and quality variation. Rayoptic’s Fiber NID with Built-in Reel helps simplify this process by preparing the drop cable at the factory before shipment.
The drop cable is:
- Pre-wound on the internal reel
- Factory-terminated with SC/APC connectors on both ends
- Available in lengths up to 150 ft
- Assembled inside the outdoor Fiber NID enclosure
This pre-terminated design helps reduce or eliminate field splicing in many installation scenarios, allowing technicians to complete subscriber connections faster and more consistently.

Built-in Reel for Clean Cable Management
Cable storage is an important part of FTTH drop cable deployment. Loose or unmanaged cable may make the installation look messy and can increase the risk of bending, twisting, or accidental damage.
The built-in reel helps store excess drop cable inside the Fiber NID. This provides a cleaner installation and keeps the fiber connection point better organized.
This reel-type structure is especially useful for residential installations where standard drop cable lengths such as 50 ft, 100 ft, or 150 ft are commonly used.

Outdoor Protection with IP55 Rating
The enclosure is designed for outdoor FTTH access applications and features IP55 protection. Foam strip sealing is used around the enclosure cover to help improve dust and water resistance.
This makes the Fiber NID suitable for outdoor wall-mounted installation in residential fiber access networks, while keeping the fiber connection point protected inside the enclosure.

Armored or Non-Armored Drop Cable Options
To meet different project requirements, this Fiber NID can be supplied with either armored or non-armored drop cable.
Armored drop cable provides additional mechanical protection for more demanding installation environments, while non-armored drop cable offers a lighter and more flexible option for standard residential FTTH deployments.
Rayoptic can provide cable configurations based on customer project requirements, including cable length, cable type, and connector options.
