The SN-MT connector was developed to address these challenges. It combines a compact Very Small Form Factor, or VSFF, connector housing with a multi-fiber MT-style ferrule, allowing multiple fibers to be connected through an interface with a footprint similar to that of an SN connector.
Unlike a conventional SN connector, which normally terminates two individual fibers, an SN-MT connector accommodates multiple fibers in a single ferrule. The current SN-MT product family is particularly suited to high-density patch panels, pre-terminated ribbon cables, data center interconnects and next-generation optical equipment.

An SN-MT connector is a VSFF multi-fiber optical connector developed by SENKO. It uses a compact multi-fiber ferrule inside an SN-sized connector body, providing significantly higher fiber density than conventional MPO connectors.
The standard SN-MT16 configuration incorporates 16 fibers with a 200 μm pitch in a single row. According to SENKO, this design can provide approximately 2.7 times the density of an MPO16 connector while using proven guide-pin alignment technology. The standard product range currently includes 8-fiber and 16-fiber configurations.
SN-MT connectors are available for single-mode and multimode optical applications. Depending on the product configuration, they may also be supplied in male versions with guide pins or female versions without guide pins.
One of the most important features of the SN-MT connector is its compact size. It uses the same general footprint as the SN connector while accommodating multiple fibers in one ferrule. This makes it possible to install more fibers within a limited patch-panel or equipment interface.
The SN-MT connector also features a push-pull operating mechanism. Technicians can insert or remove the connector by operating the rear boot, which is useful when connectors are installed closely together and direct access to the connector body is limited.
