Los dos tipos de fibra \u00f3ptica m\u00e1s utilizados son la fibra monomodo (SMF) y la fibra multimodo (MMF). Di\u00e1metro del n\u00facleo<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>La diferencia fundamental entre SMF y MMF es el di\u00e1metro del n\u00facleo. En la SMF, el di\u00e1metro del n\u00facleo es extremadamente peque\u00f1o, normalmente de unos 9 micr\u00f3metros. Este diminuto n\u00facleo s\u00f3lo permite que un \u00fanico modo de luz viaje a trav\u00e9s de \u00e9l, lo que significa que la luz sigue un \u00fanico camino, dando lugar a una dispersi\u00f3n m\u00ednima. En cambio, el MMF tiene un n\u00facleo de mayor di\u00e1metro, que suele oscilar entre 50 y 62,5 micr\u00f3metros. Este n\u00facleo m\u00e1s grande admite varios modos de luz, lo que provoca una mayor dispersi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>2. Propagaci\u00f3n de la luz<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>La fibra monomodo, como su nombre indica, s\u00f3lo permite la propagaci\u00f3n de un modo de luz a trav\u00e9s de ella.
